Celebrate the Season of Comfort: 10 Easy Ways to Save on Energy Bills This Winter

- 10:00 am - December 13th, 2024

Now that it’s December, it’s official—we have entered the holiday season! That means it’s also the start of cozy season, and what would your holidays be without warm family dinners, snug afternoons on the couch, and toasty movie nights spent with friends? As you start making your daily trips to the thermostat or setting schedules on your programmable thermostat, there are a variety of ways to conserve energy at home to help reduce your energy bills this winter.

Parker Oil & Propane understands the cost for your comfort, and that’s why in addition to providing service plans, preventative maintenance tune-ups, and other cost-saving services, we’ve compiled a list of energy conservation tips that you can use at home!

Even small adjustments can make a big impact. Let’s take 10 of our favorites:

  1. Replace cracked or broken windows.
  2. Check weather stripping and caulking around doors and windows.
  3. Upgrade to new energy-efficient heating equipment.
  4. Wrap your hot water pipes to reduce heat loss.
  5. Switch your ceiling fans to spin in a clockwise direction.
  6. Open blinds or shades to naturally heat your home and close them at night to block the radiant cold from the windows.
  7. Upgrade old thermostats to programmable or smart thermostats.
  8. Remove air conditioning window units or cover them securely.
  9. Keep blinds and furniture away from vents to avoid obstructing air flow.
  10. Close the fireplace. Make sure the flue is closed when the fireplace is not in use.

As you cozy up with family or friends this holiday season, enjoy comfort without stressing about the cost by practicing energy conservation! Contact Parker Oil & Propane to learn about more ways to save this winter.
